OMV on QNAP TS-231K

  • Hi,

    i got a QNAP TS-231K (with AnnapurnaLabs CPU) (2bay).

Unfortunately - i hate the qnap software. Its the worst i've seen for a long time <X

I am searching for a solution to install OMV (or at least any alternativ) on this system. But as far as I found out it's not possible because the Annapurna Labs CPU is not yet supported (by the linux kernel?)

Have anyone experience with this system ? Tried it ? Any other good idea what to to whit it ? Or can i only throw it in the trash?

    Any hint is welcome!

  • Software is made available for CPU architectures, hence you might be lucky

    TS-231K

    CPU Architektur 32-Bit ARM

search for a Debian 10 image supporting AL214

omv 5.6.13-1 (usul) on RPi4/4GB with Kernel 5.10.17 and WittyPi 3 V2 RTC HAT

    2x 6TB HDD formatted with ext4 in Icy Box IB-RD3662-C31 / hardware supported RAID1

For Read/Write performance of SMB shares hosted on this hardware see forum here

  • All QNAPs (well, at least all that I have ever seen) run Linux. They just run a custom QNAP kernel and the customizations are usually not open sourced.. The Annapurnalabs cpu is an arm cpu and the mainline kernel might work. Getting Debian on the system can be a major challenge. Personally I have avoided the annapurna cpus.

  • ould be a starting point

Debian Kirkwood support is very good. The same cannot be said for annapurna.
