Is there a step by step guide on setting up an NFS share ?

    GUys,

Just wondering is there a start to finish guide anywhere on setting up an NFS share ready for clients to mount etc ?

    I mean, it's pretty simple....

You add the share to the NFS section and of the webUI and make sure nfs is enabled. Make sure you give the share a client Ip that will access it (if you want it available to any client on your network, it's probably something like 192.168.1.0/24)

Once that is done, go to your Linux client, make sure nfs-common is installed...

You can pretty well skip the server section, and go to the client section...

When you want to mount it, the path will be serverip:/Share_Name

Is there something else you're having trouble with?

  • Thanks for the quick reply.

I was for instance wondering - do i have to create a share and assign rights/permissions to that first - and then i use NFS to share that share or do i just do it all from within the NFS module ?

Will give it a go with the directions you have provided.
