Unable to delete Shared Folder

  • Hi there, I am unable to delete a shared folder.

I want to unmount a disc as Im replacing it and wanted to unmount before disconnecting.

All options to unmount or delete are greyed out when I look in the Filesystem or Shared menus.

The options available in each menu are as follows-

Filesystem active options - Create, all others are greyed out

Shared active options - Add, Edit, Priviliges, all others are greyed out.

I have installed a bunch of plugins but not used any other than Flash plugin, I am using SMB/CIF based sharing, SSH is also active when viewed from the dashboard

I have deleted the user from the shared folder as I understand that any references/system links to a folder can obstruct things. I wonder if there is some other reference somewhere that may be still active thus causing those unavailable menus to be unaccessable.

The other discs in the array and shared folders on them also display the same inaccessability regarding mounting or deleting. which makes me think it may be some other reference somewhere that is systemwide? OR is there a SMB configuration that I am tripping up on?

    Thank you everyone

  • NOTE:

Just after I made that post I checked the SMB settings and saw the there was a shared folder in there on the disk I am having the trouble with. I deleted the share and then was able to unmount!

I have solved my issue! I appears that the method/protocol of sharing used, in this case SMB, is a higher level of order in the heirachy of reference.

The disk has now been removed from the array. thanks anyway everyone
