Hmm. You think maybe I can keep the raid array intact and reuse it? I usually just wipe everything and recopy when a new major version appears.

Yes, of course

Hi guys.
I hope you are very well.
As I have read in the forum, the unionfs plugin is not ready yet.
So I'll stick with OMV 5.
My question is if OMV 5 only works on debian 10, or if it also works on debian 11?

No, OMV5 does not work on debian 11.
OMV5 works on debian 10. OMV6 works on debian 11.

If you have the time it might help make the release better for you and others.
Thanks
Ok then. I downloaded the latest image (6.0-34) unplugged everything but the boot drive- to-be and started the installation. It all went well untill right after the step in which the installer says configuring DHCP. Then I was treated to the screen you see below. Reset the machine, tried again. Same thing. There is obviously a DHCP server on my network or else the phones, tablets and whatever wouldn't get an ip address (or at least I should have gotten some sort of error). I then took the same usb stick, wiped it, put debian 11 netinst on it and voila... in a few minutes I had a working debian installation. After that I followed the instructions on the forum and after a few minutes more I also had OMV 6 running on top of it. Like I said before this happened to me with OMV5 also on the same machine and with OMV 6 on my second backup machine. There has got to be something going wrong here.

There is an issue with the dhcp6 client on some networks. If you hit alt-f2 when you see the blue screen and type ps, you will see the pid number of the dchp process. Kill it and the installer will continue. I don't know why this happens on OMV and not the Debian installer since they are the same installer.

Hi together,
is omv 6 now offical released?
In the block i found OMV 6.0.15.
Downloading as release is still OMV 6.
And testing stage download is 6.0.34
Now i'm confused!
Cheers Robert

It is 6.0-34
Note the slash instead of a dot. ISOs are not created that often. If you install this version it will be updated to the latest version which is currently 6.0.15
OMV6 is currently RC1. So it did not get the "stable" label, yet. However, many users here already use since many months without major issues. For a fresh install, I would go for OMV6.
Lots of similar comments in the forum. Search for them.

But i often have problem with the backports kernels.
At the moment there is no time to search exactly for the failure, switch back to an older version helps.
That is because the backports kernel has not stabilized on a version. Use the proxmox kernel and you won't have this issue.
