omv 6.x on rpi

  • therefore it was not possible for me to update via omv-release-upgrade on my rpi 8gb 64-bit.

Will this be issued in the near future? Thanks in advance!

can you post the output of cat /etc/apt/source..list

    It should look like this:

If you got help in the forum and want to give something back to the project click here (omv) or here (scroll down) (plugins) and write up your solution for others.

  • Code
    ~ $ cat /etc/apt/sources.list
deb http://deb.debian.org/debian bullseye main contrib non-free
    deb http://deb.debian.org/debian-security/ bullseye/updates main contrib non-free
    deb http://deb.debian.org/debian bullseye-updates main contrib non-free
    # Uncomment deb-src lines below then 'apt-get update' to enable 'apt-get source'
    # deb-src http://deb.debian.org/debian bullseye main contrib non-free
    # deb-src http://deb.debian.org/debian-security/ bullseye/updates main contrib non-free
    # deb-src http://deb.debian.org/debian bullseye-updates main contrib non-free

thank you, i changed the source list!
apparently just the http was wrong. Is there a reason why my source list contained just the http instead of https addresses?

    now everything went smoothly!

  • did you do upgrade or clean install?

    Thx

    It was a fresh install.

Any issues you need help with?

  • did you do upgrade or clean install?

Please note, upgrade from a 32bit to a 64bit version is NOT feasible

omv 6.9.6-2 (Shaitan) on RPi CM4/4GB with 64bit Kernel 6.1.21-v8+

2x 6TB 3.5'' HDDs (CMR) formatted with ext4 via 2port PCIe SATA card with ASM1061R chipset providing hardware supported RAID1

omv 6.9.3-1 (Shaitan) on RPi4/4GB with 32bit Kernel 5.10.63 and WittyPi 3 V2 RTC HAT

    2x 3TB 3.5'' HDDs (CMR) formatted with ext4 in Icy Box IB-RD3662-C31 / hardware supported RAID1

For Read/Write performance of SMB shares hosted on this hardware see forum here

  • Just to head off the coming storm of omv 6.x on RPi questions even though I know no one will read this....

    • Yes, the install script is working with the new Debian 11-based Raspberry Pi OS image - (32 bit | 64 bit)
    • No, you shouldn't upgrade from OMV 5.x. The RPi Foundation recommends a clean install (read the end of the blog).

I will add more answers here as I think of them or people ask.

    I read this...

OK, so I would love to do that, but I cannot afford to set everything up from scratch. My setup is very complicated and took me maybe 5 workdays till everything was set up correctly. So a clean install is definitely not an option for me.

What would be the best option for me then?

Since I can't upgrade to OMV 6 cleanly, I would love to just keep using my OMV 5, but it stopped working properly because the repo's arent reachable anymore and most of the stuff stopped working, the only thing is working is the SAMBA Shares, but I am also unable to change antyhing on their settings because everything just ends up as an error in the build due to the blocked updates and repo's...

I also tried upgrading but none of the commands seem to even be present...

    pi@raspberrypi:~ $ sudo omv-upgrade

    sudo: omv-upgrade: command not found

    pi@raspberrypi:~ $ omv-release-upgrade

    -bash: omv-release-upgrade: command not found

    pi@raspberrypi:~ $

    pi@raspberrypi:~ $

    pi@raspberrypi:~ $ sudo omv-release-upgrade

    sudo: omv-release-upgrade: command not found

    pi@raspberrypi:~ $

  • What is the output of

sudo dpkg -l | grep openmedia

    It's:

    pi@raspberrypi:~ $ sudo dpkg -l | grep openmedia

ii openmediavault 5.5.13-1 all openmediavault - The open network attached storage solution

ii openmediavault-flashmemory 5.0.7 all folder2ram plugin for OpenMediaVault

ii openmediavault-keyring 1.0 all GnuPG archive keys of the OpenMediaVault archive

ii openmediavault-omvextrasorg 5.4.2 all OMV-Extras.org Package Repositories for OpenMediaVault

ii openmediavault-resetperms 5.0 all Reset Permissions

    • Offizieller Beitrag

    pi@raspberrypi:~ $ sudo omv-upgrade

From this I thought you might have uninstalled OMV. But from your other thread I understand you just did not upgrade for a very long time. Therefor omv-upgrade has not been installed, but only omv-update.
