  • root cause could be a corrupt file on a repository mirror server or internet overload on your place of the world.

Just try to download a fresh installation from a different mirror.

  • Unfortunately, I have a similar problem and the installation has been failing for several days .. Last week everything worked well in my previous attempts ..

PP. Error messages are different sometimes, and the script stops earlier.

  • W: Target Sources (main/source/Sources) is configured multiple times in /etc/apt/sources.list:2 and /etc/apt/sources.list:11

    root cause:

due to the repeated attempts the configuration file /etc/apt/sources.list is corrupt

    fix:

    - edit /etc/apt/sources.list and remove the duplicate line (in above case line number 11)

    - repeat this action until all error have been fixed

    - save the file

  • Thanks,

    I edited the file.

The installation lasted a little longer, but with many errors (not clear to me because I do not understand enough) and stopped again ..

  • The file /etc/openmediavault/config.xml exists and is empty, but the install tries to migrate it.

If this is all, a rm /etc/openmediavault/config.xml should help,

    But this:

    Code
    /var/lib/dpkg/info/openmediavault-omvextrasorg.postinst: line 24: 4766 Segmentation fault omv-salt deploy run --no-color omvextras

Indicates some error deeper in the system.

Can you start all over with a fresh denian install?

If you got help in the forum and want to give something back to the project click here (omv) or here (scroll down) (plugins) and write up your solution for others.

  • Maybe tomorrow I'll try a completely new Debian installation and see what happens. I do the experiments on a small atypical device (WD Cloud Home). By the way, 1 week ago on 2 devices I successfully installed the Debian11 + OMW 6, this is now the 3rd such device and things got stuck with it .. :)

I have some suspicions that there may be a problem with the internet connection in my area, I constantly get SSL errors, and after 3-4 attempts the installation starts ..

  • today I did tests again with a brand new installation, but it fails again. Debian 11 is installed and updated successfully, but there is a problem with the installation of some packages (python3) that end in errors and fail the process, accordingly, the system remains broken and apparently cannot successfully complete the installation.

  • Sorry to raise an old thread, but I'm having exactly the same issue, I am not sure if rumenn was able to fix it, but I'm running a fresh installed Debian bullseye on my arm64 WD Cloud Home and the openmediavault 6 fails when setting up salt. I already tried all the steps above, can anyone else suggest what to do? Is there maybe a pre-packaged armbian image I can use for the WD Cloud Home?

Sorry to raise an old thread, but I'm having exactly the same issue,

Actually this thread is mentioning several issues.

Is there maybe a pre-packaged armbian image I can use for the WD Cloud Home?

    Nope

I would suggest to install Debian 11 again and make sure that apt update and apt upgrade run without issues.

After this is achieved, run the install script and if there are issue, create a new thread an post the complete output.

  • Actually this thread is mentioning several issues.

Well no there is really one issue here that I mentioned, I'll repeat: the installation of OMV6 fails due to setting up SALT, logs of errors are above since my error is the same as OP

    Quote from macom

    Nope

I reinstalled Debian 11 many times and the only error I get is when I install OMV (again, Salt fails). There is no need to create a new thread as this is unsolved and I have the same issue.

Well no there is really one issue here that I mentioned, I'll repeat:

While your issue might be the same as the first post, there are at least three issues on the this thread.

the installation of OMV6 fails due to setting up SALT

The error is coming from the psutil python module not salt. salt is just reporting it. What is the output of: cat /proc/meminfo

    omv 7.7.5-1 sandworm | 64 bit | 6.11 proxmox kernel

Please try ctrl-shift-R and read this before posting a question.

Please put your OMV system details in your signature.
Please don't PM for support... Too many PMs!

  • FYI I managed to install OMV following this guide here https://nerdprojekte.wordpress…n-11-directly-new-method/

    Some others said to edit

    /usr/local/lib/python/dist-packages/psutil/_pslinux.py

Not sure if this is better though
