rsync parameter question

  • Hi, i am in the process of migrating the contents of one filesystem to another server with an rsync job.

I want to copy the contents of the remote path /media/279518ea-0b44-479f-952f-d549dca76193 to my local shared folder. But I do not want to have the directory 279518ea-0b44-479f-952f-d549dca76193 created locally. If using rsync from the command line I would just add a / after the src path.

OMV will not allow me to save the job with trailing /. Is this a bug or done by intention?

So what you see in the screenshot can not be saved, if I remove the slash it will save without error.

I don't see in the code where it would be trimmed off. Is it only trimmed in the rsync job file or is it trimmed in the database as well?

Using remote mount you can copy it to any folder you want with a local rsync copy job.

I was not able to save (gave an error message), but today it worked. Am i stupid?

Weird. Maybe some sort of browser caching that refreshed and it works?

  • When I got the error saving it, I changed having the slash back and forth and only was able to save without the slash. So my premature assumtion was the rpc-side checking for that.

I editing a configuration without a slash, it my well be that omv did not consider the config without the slash as changed and just did not try to save. (I was not able to leave the edit window when the error happened).

Next time I take screenshots / logs even if I think I know what is going on. Promised!
