What is the best combination about a sync/manager files app and OVM ?

You can evaluate to use the "remote storage" app in Nextcloud to access any existing smb share.

Nextcloud saves the user files in the /data folder you mapped . Something like /data/username/files.

I would expect that you can create a smb share pointing at that folder. Should be fine for reading. If you want to add or change files you would have to rescan the folder so that Nextlcoud is aware of the changes. Make some test to see if it works as expected before using this approach.

I use "Nextcloud" to sync files and access from outside. All folders are mounted on "Nextcloud" via remote storage, so they can be accessed with samba.

To sync smartphone files I use "Syncthing", I don't use "Nextcloud", this way I mount the smartphone folders I want to a server folder called "phone" inside "data" (which in turn is mounted inside Nextcloud for remote storage). This way I can sync the phone files from that folder with Nextcloud and also access them with samba.

Actually with Syncthing you can do everything too. The downside is that the sync client on Windows is underdeveloped and unintuitive. Nextcloud's sync client is much more graphical. In addition Nextcloud offers other things, if you are interested.

Sorry to but in that would explain why I could never get Syncthing to work the way I expected it too, so I abandoned the idea.

It can be done, and it works. I had it working for a while and the result is as expected. Here is how to do it.

The drawback is that there is no GUI and in the file manager you cannot see the real situation. In the end that's why I did a combination of Syncthing and Nextcloud. Syncthing works better than Nextcloud with smartphone. Nextcloud works better than Syncthing on Windows. And with Nextcloud external storage you can access everything with samba.

Can't speak for Windows, but the Linux client I found pretty easy. I set it up a long time ago then went to rsync. My one issue with it then, is it was repeatedly syncing (probably because of Chrome's .config folder in my home folder). It would sync 100's of times an hour. I was messing with it yesterday and turned off the "Watch" feature, and simply set the server side to "receive only" and client to "send only" and both were set to every 3600sec (4hrs).

Works flawless and I'm actually pretty happy with it. Supports versioning if that's your thing

I may see about implementing it with my remote server when I update/rebuild it to OMV 6. I think it'd be easier to reverse proxy through a domain... but haven't tried that yet.

You can mount a folder on Nextcloud using the Nextcloud "Remote Storage" plugin with samba. Nextcloud will be able to restrict the permissions that this share already has or leave them as they are. You can choose whether to mount the folder for one user or for multiple users. You can choose whether only administrators or all users can mount folders. You can restrict which Nextcloud users can access that folder and with what permissions.

The ideal procedure is to mount a shared folder on OMV with samba with all permissions for a user. From Nextcloud mount that folder with the credentials of that user. You then decide which Nextcloud users can access that folder and what permissions each user will have. There are many ways to do this. I do not see the problem.
