Power off most of the time

  • I'm a new OMV user and I am setting up my first install. This server will be a backup for my main server running OS X. I plan to power on the system once a week or so for weekly backups . The remainder of the time it will be off. This may be a stupid question but I am wondering if this is a problem for OMV since it is designed as a always on NAS software? Also would anyone recommend going right to V6 or is V5.x the way to go. Thanks !

OMV6 is close to being released as stable, which OMV5 will be no longer maintained shortly thereafter. Many have migrated to 6 already. Powered off most of the time is not a particular problem.
