OMV6 does not show dashboard after fresh installation

  • Thanks. However that is how I was logged in. Any other ideas?

Actually I just solved it. A bit of background. I'm trying to make a pia media server following a year-old YouTube tutorial. I ssh'd into my pi and installed OMV by copy/pasting a command from the video description. The command I copied did not include "sudo" to start thought it was typed in the video. I reinstalled everything and this time I typed "sudo" before pasting the command and hitting enter. The install completely finished. Problem solved. Thanks for your reply though.

If you have to reinstall for any reason I recommend you use this

    omv6:new_user_guide [omv-extras.org]

instead of a youtube video from a year ago. Following outdated tutorials often leads to conflicts. And it's even worse that later they don't give you support and you have to look for it in other places.

So they would have to install Debian first to pull that off? That's strange.. I thought Debian (or it may have been Ubuntu)... did not allow creation of a user named "admin"

Yep or literally removed the admin user from the openmediavault-admin group. There is nothing stopping you from adding "admin" on Debian or Ubuntu.

This is not what caused the problem. Nothing would install if it didn't have the proper privileges. Something created the admin user before omv was installed. Following the install guide (not some video) will prevent this.
