I have a domain name, do I need to do anything special at setup?

Can't believe I missed that, guess I was tired.

What you said is exactlly what happened. Very interesting as I'd never noticed this before or even really had a concern about it, but now I see what you're saying and it makes sense. Just for grins, I redeployed it with symlinks, and then executed again w/ the symlink location and it also killed the symlink location.

Very interesting. I'll have to give this some thought.

    Thanks!

  • Is there an openmediavault discord server? I feel like good discussions could happen in one. Not for answering questions or dealing with issues, but just talking about omv and Linux. Like this wonderful thread.

If it doesn’t exist, I’ll gladly make and manage one for the community.

If it does exist, please send me the link :)

We used to have an IRC channel, but it didn't get a lot of traffic and me, aaron and about 5-6 others were the only ones who were regularly active there. There's still folks who lurk there. I popped in about, 3-4mo ago, and lurked for about 6hrs and never heard a peep.

Discord might prove better there. I do agree w/ you though. I like forums, but I also like a chat.

  • I see a lot of open source projects making discord servers. I am in a lot of them. I rather like it, it creates a community better.

If there’s not immediate concerns with it, I’ll create a server. I will brand it as openmediavault (but not as an official thing yet) and set up a few channels I think would be handy. Also a few self assigned roles for where you are in your server journey. (Roles like dev, expert, server hoster, beginner, etc. those can change easily idk)

I don't see what it would hurt (that was how the IRC channel started)... unless votdev has some objection. I personally always have trouble navigating discord, but I've not used it much.
