OMV6 and Home Assistant: Installation of Portainer?

  • I have installed OMV 6 and Home Assistant (HA) in parallel on a fresh Debian 11 and everything runs error free so far, even through the different ports.

Now OMV shows me without my intervention already a running Docker including the containers of HA:

My question now is: is it possible to install Portainer or Yacht via OMV? Or can this break my already running containers HA? I would like to create more containers, in parallel with HA.

  • How did you installed docker?

Portainer is a container so, there should be no issue running it as long as you don't have any other container/service running on ports 8000 && 9000.

  • You could try and it "should work", but you are running a unsupported installation as the OS image is customized for HA.

If you got help in the forum and want to give something back to the project click here (omv) or here (scroll down) (plugins) and write up your solution for others.

There is a button in omv-extras to install portainer.
