Hi All,
It's been a few years since I last tinkered with OMV (Arakis IIRC). I have just installed a test server with OMV 6 and must say I am utterly impressed with the progress the software has made. If testing is going as expected I am buying new hardware to accommodate a new OMV server.
I am currently using a DS215+ as my primary server which has become unreliable since the upgrade to DSM 7.1. So I am exploring the possibilities of building my own mini itx server with a bit of storage which can host the applications I use. I have been reading this forum for a few days but there is so much information that it is hard to find the information I need. So I thought I'd ask you for your help.
The new server is supposed to be able to perform the following functions:
- Serve files to all Windows and Linux based clients (no questions here)
- Host a MariaDB for KODI
- Host PHPMyAdmin to maintain MariaDB
- Host Vaultwarden
- Host Jackett
- Act as VPN Client so I can safely use Jackett
I suspect MariaDB, PHPMyAdmin, Vaultwarden and Jackett will have to be added as Docker containers. I will have some exploring to do in these areas. I have installed the Docker and Portainer plugins. I suspect Docker and Portainer to be installed on the installation medium (primary disk) but I am not entirely sure...
The hardware I am looking at is a mini itx ASRock system with a Intel Celeron J4105 with 8 GB RAM and a 256 GB PCIe SSD complemented with an 8 TB Ultrastor HC320. Reason for this is that I am looking for a super small casing (Inter-Tech A-80 which can host only one 3½" drive)
Questions I have:
- Will the proposed hardware be able to support all the containers I am planning to use?
- How much storage will I need if the Docker containers are stored on the installation drive?
- How do I get a VPN client connection which is (preferrably) manageable from the GUI?
- Is it all possible to "feed" magnet links" from an external Sonarr client to the Downloader plugin?
Hope you can help me.
Thanks!
