OMV6 as Access Point

  • Hi, I've started to look for solution to create AP (maybe on docker...?) from my raspberry4 with OMV6. I know there are some solutions on google, but I've tried one and failed ;]

I would like to be bridged so the main router will deal with DHCP, DNS and protection. I'd like to have both n and ac wifi

I did all acc. to below

    https://www.raspberrypi.com/do…ged-wireless-access-point

unable to log in to network - incorrect password

  • macom

    Hat das Thema freigeschaltet.
  • After some time spent on solving this issue, it looks that I cannot access to network even when the Pi WLAN is unprotected. I receive below log

so not sure what is the problem... maybe WLAN drivers but the system is up-to-date. How can I replace them?

I also tried RaspAP project which supposed to be out-of-the-box solution, but with similar result

  • OK, I think there is a problem with OVM.

    1. I installed fresh Deb10 and set up AP acc. to official tutorial and it WORKED

    2. then, I've Installed OVM with

    Code
    wget -O - https://github.com/OpenMediaVault-Plugin-Developers/installScript/raw/master/install | sudo bash

and the previously working network is not accessible anymore.

    3. I've again started to set up AP and when it came to

    Code
    sudo nano /etc/dhcpcd.conf

the file was empty, so this must be the case!

Any suggestion how to resolve it?

  • Try again the installation but bypass the network configuration.

    https://github.com/OpenMediaVa…ipt#to-skip-network-setup

  • as I know that OMV uses systemd-networkd and removes dhcpcd on installation I have 2 ideas that I'm testing

    1. install again dhcpd

    Code
    sudo apt install dhcpcd5

and config dhcpcd.conf as in tutorial - no success, however it connects, but disconnect immediately - different reaction, no success

    2. manage systemd-networkd to handle everything

    https://unix.stackexchange.com…d-networkd-using-a-bridge

but this one is more complicated with multiple bridges? not sure...

I did as suggested in the link (changed that strange ethernet and wifi deviced to eth0 and wlan0) but still failed.

your option is the third, but I would need to start system from zero

there is also https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/systemd-networkd but not bridged

    Zitat

This is an example of a DHCP server configuration which works well with hostapd to create a wireless hotspot. IPMasquerade adds the firewall rules for NAT and implies IPForward=ipv4 to enable packet forwarding.

  • ok, for now I will not reinstall my system. I thought I can have 5GHz router, but with 80MHz band it is still slower then 2,4GHz router.

It would be nice to have feature but the cost is too big for the benefits

  • Try again the installation but bypass the network configuration.

    Hello Soma,

I have installed wifi AP on a new headless respbian (bullseye) according: https://www.raspberrypi.com/do…ted-wireless-access-point

The AP worked fine. After installation of OMV6 with skipped network installation the AP is not working properly anymore.

All the configuration look fine but I had to re-enable hostapd service again. The wifi network is visible and gets an ipv4 address but I am not able to connect to the AP using a mobile device: I do not get a IP address.
It seems that dhcpcd does not get requests for wifi (eth0 is working well). This is the only message in the log for wifi:
    ... wlan0: no IPv6 Routers available
