Resetting password

I'm sorry to ask this, but how can I get my old password? I can bring up my powershell, and type my: SSH xxx@xxxxxxxx, but there it asked for a password. It's the password I don't have? I'm totally lost.

timlab55 your SSH user/pwd doesn't *have to* correspond with your OMV login account: think back to the operating system you installed OMV on (core ISO or Debian with additional repos?) If you had an elevated/sudo user in the core OS [whether or not it matches up with OMV users] try that!

Okay, I've tried everything mentioned here. Still no luck. I can see the hostname and that's about it using a program that I've had called "DiskInternals Linux Reader". My only problem is that I'm not sure which files to look at for the information that I seek to do anything. Any suggestions before I then ask about reinstalling OVM?

Can you log in local? (with a display and keyboard)

You need to start to explain what the hell is the problem and give INFO and reply in a proper way.

I got into the first Aid, and I hit #4 "Change workbench administrator password. However, I think it's the username that is screwing me up now.

admin username

Ctrl + Shift + R before trying again

That password is for the "admin" user ONLY.

That user is only for the OMV GUI.

It has no SSH access.

If you are on a Pi and you used the defaults on install, the standard user will be "pi"

So the same question again (and it will be the last time)

Can you log in to OMV GUI? With USER admin and PASSWORD whatever you setted on omv-firstaid?

I wish the older we got, the better behave we could be. Soma, I thank you for your help and I'm sorry for driving you nuts. I wasn't sure what you wanted to know, but as you can see in my last last post, I've been able to get into firstaid, changed my password and now I have move on smartly. No reinstall :).

Login with SSH to the server and run as root omv-firstaid:

sudo omv-firstaid

use the option "Change Workbetch administrator password"

and that's it
