permissions, permissions, permissions.

  • I just want to have drives listed and anyone can use.

No matter what I setup, I always run into can't add, delete or move files. permission not allowed. seems once I got it working, the next day it doesn't work and i'm back to permission denied on any type of operation (moving or adding files) Also, I am running into not being able to log into the drives/shares.

go to windows or linux, go into the file manager (or whatever flavor its called for the week) click OMV, click the drive/share a popup says anonymous or registered user. put in user name a password. Nope, never worked once. click anonymous I assume OMV treats as a guest? ok I can see the drive/share but can't do anything with it. As far as I know, everything that has a option I set as open, guest, read/write.

One thing I wish OMV had, was a simple NAS setup. some of us just want a lot of storage and open drives to use on the network by anyone. Just click one option and done.

With that said, can someone direct me to the how to make all drives/shares just open and a free for all?

  • Thank you macom.

I was able to get the drives online and working with that.

I can see how it would be useful and powerful to setup all the permissions and such, but if not done correctly it definitely leads to a headache.

  • macom
