HELP PLEASE---OMV and Truenas Scale

  • Hey all,

    I currently am running OMV on this miniPC and it's doing great. But I am currently building a more robust server that will be in Node 804. I'm hoping to be able to use all the drives I have laying around to have a house server. I've been learning toward building it with TrueNAS scale. I don't want to try and get my docker instance to work on Truenas but would like my mini pc to utilize the storage space. My question is would OMV be able to "mount" my server? I have seen the Remote mount plug-in and watched a few videos on them but I wanted to double check if that was the right route.

    Thanks for any help!

    Why?

    You haven't said why you want to do this. If you are trying to backup one server to the other, I would use rsync.

    omv 7.0.5-1 sandworm | 64 bit | 6.8 proxmox kernel

    plugins :: omvextrasorg 7.0 | kvm 7.0.13 | compose 7.1.4 | k8s 7.1.0-3 | cputemp 7.0.1 | mergerfs 7.0.4

    omv-extras.org plugins source code and issue tracker - github - changelogs

    Please try ctrl-shift-R and read this before posting a question.

    Please put your OMV system details in your signature.

    Mostly for the benefits of zfs and to have a larger storage system. I want to be able to have my mini PC run my docker containers but not have to hook up my storage directly to that device. There is also placement issues that I'd rather not dive into.

    So is there a way?

    OMV has a zfs plugin but you could have a very large storage system with just about any native linux filesystem.

    In that case, I would use nfs (mount remote nfs share on the mini pc - remote mount plugin will work) and it should work fine.
