Failed upgrade attempt OMV 4 to 5

  • Hi All,

I hadn't realized that OMV 6 is fully released and figured I need to upgrade to keep up with the supported versions. I attempted to upgrade from OMV 4 to 5 and the upgrade failed. It looks like it's something to do with unionFS. I've attached the upgrade script output in a text file to this post. Would you be able to point out where I'm going wrong? Thanks in advance.

Everything about your upgrade failed. It is still completely omv 4.x

    run-parts: /root/openmediavault-upgrade-4.7/pre.d/20-remount-ro exited with return code 1

This stopped it before doing anything. Maybe try running again. I didn't write those scripts so I don't know them. You could try my old script - https://github.com/OpenMediaVa…t/blob/master/upgrade4to5

  • Thanks for the help, I was able to run your script and successfully upgraded to 5.6.26. I then rebooted and started to run the other commands that were displayed at the bottom of the script and I'm unable to resolve github.com. I did reboot after running apt-get purge openmediavault-omvextrasorg resolvconf" because it the system recommended it. Here is what I get:

    root@OMV:~# apt-get purge openmediavault-omvextrasorg resolvconf

  • Thanks for the assistance. I did run into another issue where the docker daemon didn't start automatically after the upgrade but was able to enable them with systemctl. I was able to finalize the upgrade and everything is working as expected.
