Add 4 Terabyte Hard Disk to the Nas

good morning to all!

My name is Teppei and I am Italian, I have always been a fan of electronics and computer science and using an old PC that I was given I built a NAS (configured in RAID 5 with 4 hard drives of 300 GB) with OpenMediaVault that I must say works really great!!!

For this I bought another new hard disk Seagate barracuda, 4 TB, Internal Hard Disk, SATA 6 Gbit/s, 3,5", 5400 RPM, Cache 256 MB and I would like to understand how to add it without creating configuration problems to the entire NAS.

for your reply, I have mounted the 4 TB hard disk and it is recognised with no problem, but I don't understand why now the network folders are not available...

yet from the checks I've done, it seems to be that the parameters are all OK.

How do you advise me to proceed?

I had previously created several folders, which were all nice and accessible, now I can see them but when I click on them the error message appears, resource not available.

The folders previously created were with samba.

I wanted to tell you that I managed to get my NAS working properly again!!!

Do you know where the problem was?

The sata cable disconnected from a hard drive that was creating the entire almost 1TB NAS!!!

And so of course the various folders previously created were not available!

Now all the folders have resumed their functionality and availability on the home network.

Since this is my first time using OpenMediaVault, which I installed on a good but old PC, how can I protect my NAS?

My question is: if one day the motherboard no longer works, how can I recover my data?
