Hi,
my transmission plugin downloads files in a shared folder called "downloads". My user has read/write priviledges on all my shared folders. My problem is that I can copy the downloaded files but I can't delete them. Any suggestions?
Thanks

It will depend on the chmod (privileges) of the folder but try editing your user and add it to the debian-transmission group.
If that does not work change directory one level above the folder in question and give results of this command:
stat (name of folder)
I've added the user to the group but the problem is still here. I made some screenshots that maybe can be useful:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/i8g…AADi1HIhHLWRbK4pdDp9-rgSa
From the smb log it seems that the folder is mounted read-only.
This is the output of stat:
root@nas:/media/4df86e93-00ed-4af1-af95-6a63729ccc05# stat downloads
File: "downloads"
Size: 4096 Blocks: 8 IO Block: 4096 directory
Device: 97fh/2431d Inode: 7340033 Links: 11
Access: (2775/drwxrwsr-x) Uid: ( 0/ root) Gid: ( 100/ users)
Access: 2014-06-04 17:38:44.729418804 +0200
Modify: 2014-06-01 22:34:28.501737462 +0200
Change: 2014-06-01 22:34:28.501737462 +0200
Do this and then you will be able to delete them:
cd /media/4df86e93-00ed-4af1-af95-6a63729ccc05/downloads
chown -R root:users *
done, but nothing changed also after reboot.
How are you trying to delete the files and what user are you using? A user created in the web-gui or root? Are you in command line or via a share on another computer?
I'm trying to delete the files from my mac, mounting the smb share. I'm using my user "virgafox", confirmed by the smb log in the screenshots. When I try to delete it says that I don't have priviledges. I can't understand why it mounts the share in read-only mode. thanks
Are you sure it mounts only in read only mode? Do you have that little symbol in your finder on the bottom left corner when you mount your drive and change to that folder via finder?
I was thinking that because of the "RDONLY" written in the smb log that I have attached before, but I don't have that symbol in the finder. Just tested and I can write and delete new files. The problem is when I need to delete a file created by transmission.
You have to be the owner of a file to delete it via a samba connection. That is due to the way OMV sets up it's Samba config. You could use a script after files are downloaded to change ownership to your user. Or you could alter the default smb.conf file for OMV but I don't recommend it.
Then it´s defenitely a permission problem like tekkb said. I´d change the ownership. I also do this with my pyload downloads.
ok I'll try to do the same. thanks
