Replace the processor

I want to replace the processor with a more powerful one.

Will the system need to be reinstalled?

Normally it is not necessary. Just replace it and start the system. It should work.

Note: It is always advisable to have a backup.

I replaced my processor about a year ago, swapping a very old Athlon II for a slightly less old Phenom 905e.

OMV booted without a hitch and correctly identified the new proc in the dashboard.

I just switched my server to an entirely new system, different motherboard and sata controllers. The only thing that was the same was the drives.

It booted up just fine. I just had to run omv-firstaid to fix the network and it was a drop in replacement. I was impressed.
