Suggestions on how to set up a "media system"

I am currently considering how best to reconfigure my existing Media System.

My existing system consists of the following:

• Large Satellite Dish
• Quad LMB with Unicable
• digibox Sat->IP receiver
• Pi4 running TVheadend
• PI4 running OMV6 with 1 x USB 3 SSD boot/OS disk, 4 x 8TB USB 3 HDD (2 pairs of mirrors)
• Pi4 Running Calibre eBook server (files hosted on OMV NAS)
• Multiple eBook readers (with Wifi)
• Collection of PI3 and PI4 running Librelec Kodi
• Collection of Laptops and Desktops (Windows and Linux)

I have seen some posts that suggest I should use Jellyfin to deal with my media file collection (Movies/TV Series/Music) and configure my existing Kodi to point at Jellyfin.

Has anyone got any ideas (without investing in new hardware) on how I could reconfigure my system?

If so, can you point me to relevant posts/how to guides on how to do it?

Thanks, I will read through that for a basic grounding in Docker on OMV.

I notice you give an example of Jellyfin in the guide. Do you have experience with this? Would you anticipate it could provide the services I would like?

HI, I am following the above guide and have failed at almost the first step

I have installed the omv-extras for omv6 using wget -O - https://github.com/OpenMediaVa…ckages/raw/master/install | bash
and am now attempting to install

• openmediavault-wetty

but when I search for this plugin I get no data to display.

I checked the other 2 plugins symlinks and compose - they are present.

Has the name changed since the guide was written?

Any help would be welcome

Wetty is not from omv-extras. It is part of OMV and should be available out of the box

If you have access through ssh using putty, cmd, powershell or whatever, that should work as well.

So from this list:

• openmediavault-wetty

• openmediavault-symlinks

• openmediavault-compose

I simply skip the first and continue on with symlinks - yes?

No problem, I have ssh access to my OMV server.

It says the ONLY way to install omv-extras (for OMV6) is via command line.

Therefore you must have some form of ssh access to the OMV server before you start.

I am currently having some difficulty with "RPC service 'Compose' not found." messages. I assume there was an issue with the docker installation.

I have "removed" the installation and am about to hit the install button again.

This is my docker settings screen just prior to pressing install. Notice I have the full path to the docker folder on my new ssd.

The "Installing Docker" screen shows a few issues that I am not sure what to do with (see attached file).

Thanks, I will check the thread out (I was not aware I needed apparmor)

I checked the suggested thread out. It appeared to be concentrating on AMD64.

I decided to reboot my OMV server (to clear any memory resident programs) and then tried to install compose again (it said it was NOT installed).

This worked, I have gone through the rest of the guide to install Jellyfin and am happy to report:

I now have a WORKING Jellyfin installation in a docker
