I'm thinking about switching my backup server from Windows 10 to OMV, but I suspect the CPU is less than ideal for the task.
The CPU in question is currently a 4th-gen dual-core Celeron rated for 3GHz.
Will that be enough for software RAID 10 using 4 drives? I'd like to expand to 8 of them in the future.
CPU for Software RAID 10, and other hardware reccomendations?

I assume that it is a G3220 processor (2 cores, year of publication 2013, TDP 53 watts). It is weaker than a J4105 (4 cores, year of release 2017, TDP 10Watt). The performance of the CPU will still be sufficient for a pure backup server with RAID 10. Other components such as RAM are also important. The energy costs for RAID 10 with at least 4 disks and the old PC would be too high for me.

BTRFS is another option that allows you to do Raid1 and Raid10. This format is perfectly supported in Openmediavault now.

I've used that before in NAS4Free, but I don't recall the performance.
How quick are sustained reads and writes when using two disks for parity compared to Intel's RAID 5? -
