Armbian-config - Rpi4B - holds no entry for OMV installation

  • The armbian-config tool does not present an option to install OMV.

    I have installed a fresh armbian 23.02 Jammy and made all the

    sudo apt upgrade to get:

    Armbian 23.02.2 Jammy with Linux 5.15.92-bcm2711,

    uname -a --> Linux rpi4b 5.15.92-bcm2711 #23.02.2 SMP PREEMPT Fri Feb 17 22:42:10 UTC 2023 aarch64 aarch64 aarch64 GNU/Linux.

    But on this page https://docs.openmediavault.or…stallation/on_debian.html. it says:

    Quote

    After installing Armbian, then use the armbian-config tool to install OMV in a single step with all performance and reliability tweaks included.

    I have run the "sudo armbian-config" tool, but there appears no option for installing OMV.

    An extract of what's available is pictured below. I only show what appears to be obvious selections and have not tried some more improbable combinations (based on the menu text).

    Any idea what I do wrong?

    Thanks.

    installed a fresh armbian 23.02 Jammy

    OMV only works on Debian Bullseye. Jammy is Ubuntu.

    plugins :: omvextrasorg 7.0.2 | kvm 7.1.8 | compose 7.6.10 | cterm 7.8.7 | cputemp 7.0.2 | mergerfs 7.0.5 | scripts 7.3.1

    Please don't PM for support... Too many PMs!

  • thanks,

    The document holds good information of proper handling of flash creation and how to install from within armbian using a oneliner:

    Code
    wget -O - https://github.com/OpenMediaVault-Plugin-Developers/installScript/raw/master/install | sudo bash

    but it turns out not to support armbian version Jammy which is the current version of Armbian. Latest version supported for OMV is Bullseye.

    Only Debian 10 (Buster) and 11 (Bullseye) are supported.

    And this is a dead-end so far. I have not been able to find a download for armbian Bullseye for rpi. Where have the archived armbian versions gone? Ok that was not a question for this forum.

    Any reason in particular to use armbian and not the raspios?

    Soma, thanks for asking.

    The only reason was the enlightening note on this page https://docs.openmediavault.or…stallation/on_debian.html. it says:

    This sounded very tempting, but as I wrote I was not able to find an Armbian image compatible with OMV. Slightly disappointing (on the Armbian side)

    I will follow the link provided by Crashtest.

    Soma, you are right - It makes sense to take raspios as foundation for further work on an rPi.

    Thank you all for your help.!
