Login via Webgui no longer possible

Hi,

I've got a problem with login as admin via webgui. Login via ssh works.

Last things I did on the server: Update omv-extras with the known 'problems' of portainer (plex and cups). Could not access them any longer and tried the guide omv-extras 6.3 but got stuck - still no access but at least plex worked (for the family) and I decided to try to solve this problem later. After about a week the login problem occurred in the webgui.

Some things I tried with omv-firstaid: reset failed login attempts, reset admin password, configure workbench ... but didn't help.

I don't know what to do next or how to solve the problem. Could you give some help or tips what to do next?

Your user is locked because of too much failed logins. Use omv-firstaid on CLI to reset the failed login counter for this user.

Thanks votdev, I did this a few times via CLI and tried login several times, but it did not help - that's why the lock appeared.

I have no idea what to do next ...

Well, I think proper action would be to reset the lock counter as votdev suggested, an then after that, change the webUi password (also an option in omv-firstaid)

It's possible (likely) you think you've remembered the webUI password but you've got it incorrect

Hi KM0201, that are all options I already tried, before I wrote this post. I cleared the lock counter, I reset the password (all via firstaid) ... but as I'm not at home at the moment I will try this again in the evening ... maybe ... but I don't think so

Check if the root file system is full (use command df -h).

The root system may be full as mentioned above (although I thought that generally put you in a login loop, rather than reporting a bad password)

Ok, this seems to be the cause ... sdc1 uses 100%

Any advice, what or how I could clean up? Sorry, but I am not really a specialist in this ... just use omv as a homeserver, which in most times runs without problems

the output of df will look like this:

The filesystem dev/sda1 which is mounted on "/" is the OS filesystem. The use of that filesystem is 100% --> the OS filesystem is full.

Now I try to find the folder, which causes the load. If I'm right, it's /srv/d0 ... any suggestion, what this could be? Sorry again, but I have no idea, what to do. OMV ran a few years, then I made a new installation of OMV6 in 2022 ... and now I am hopping from one problem to another

Follow the instructions in the guide. Enter /d0 and repeat the steps, find the folder with the largest size.

/srv is the folder where file system mounts are made. It's likely that some filesystem has been unmounted for some reason and something has kept writing files to that filesystem's mount folder. You will have to find out who is to blame.

Ok, thank's for your help!!!

It was the folder with the crash reports of plex ... 86 GB :O

So I learned, that no login possible could be caused by a full root system ... caused by plex crash reports

BTW ... it's again growing rapidly with log and dmp files ...

Now the problem with the omv-extras update and my not working docker guide comes in mind. Could it be possible, that this might create all the logs and dmp-files in the crash reports directory?

... but this might be another thread, right?

to avoid the same problem in future define a path for containers/diockers, not in root filesystem (/var/lib/docker), use your data disk instead.

I just released a new version of openmediavault-omvextrasorg 6.3 and openmediavault-compose 6.7.

IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND DOCKER WELL, WAIT to FOLLOW THESE DIRECTIONS UNTIL THEY ARE IMPROVED!!!

The docker, portainer, and yacht installs have been removed from omvextras. You will only enable the docker repo in omv-extras now.
The docker install has been added to the openmediavault-compose plugin.
If you were using portainer created by omv-extras, you should be able to use the "add example" option the

No, that's not possible.

You can follow the available procedures to solve that.

My root filesystem is on SDcard 128Gb. I suppose nothing else.

Now i have a login loop.

To prevent I put docker storage outside system disk, because it was there before.

I think some files were left there!

I'm not very good on CLI but with du command i have this:

I assume you are on a Raspberry and you are logged in as the user pi. You can log in as root or you can modify the permissions of the root folder to be able to access that folder.
