Your DNS is not set correct. Users often forget to set the DNS servers if they use static IP. Better use DHCP, so your router is responsible for sending all necessary network configs.

You don't have to buy anything. You only have to tell the OMV network interface at which address the DNS server is. If you configure DHCP the router will take care of that. If you configure a static IP you must indicate the DNS address in the field established for this when you configure the IP in the OMV interface. Generally, it is usually the same IP of your router. You can set your router's IP and then any other public one separated by a comma, something like this 192.168.1.1,1.0.0.1

I mean I have to use DNS servers, and I don't want to pay for them (I did consider premium DNS through my domain provider)... but It's just something I accept (not that I'm happy about t). I understand I'm the product...
My issue with with Windows has really nothing to do with it being closed source (as the quote implies)... my issue is with it's absolutely horrible security. Now granted, the last time I used Windows regularly was Windows XP... I know the newer versions are apparently more secure.. but.. I'm pretty well sold on Linux for my home OS now

Agree. I use a cut down version myself without all the "bloatware" runs great. The issue with security is the average user has no clue what they are doing/installing.

While all the arguments in that post have some logic, they all lack long-term perspective in my opinion. If Cloudflare gets its "wires crossed" and decides to take advantage of that position of power, it better be careful, because if something like that comes to light it will only take a week for it to sink and disappear. It would cost people very little to change their DNS address.
Rather, it seems like an alarmist article, although that does not mean that you should not keep an eye on Cloudflare from time to time.

The only service I use from Cloudflare is DNS. I would never let Cloudflare or anyone I don't know decrypt my traffic. Anyone who wants to use their services and expose their information should do so but then don't start crying if there are surprises in the future. The risk is not only what Cloudflare does but also what a hacker can do within Cloudflare.
