Strange "reboot loop"

This is the worst thing you can do to a server. If you have continuous power outages you should buy a UPS. Every time a dirty system shutdown occurs, data is lost and storage drives can be broken. Probably the SD card where OMV is installed is also damaged.

My recommendation, barring another better idea, is that you reinstall and buy a UPS.

How did you make that backup? If that backup is an image then imageusb should be useful.

That's more complicated. There are several types of backup possible in that plugin. There are several guides on the forum, depending on the method used, but you will have to search for them, some are not even in the guides section.

If you've never done that type of restoration it can be a steep learning curve.

Do a fresh install of OMV. Then restore the backup of the root partition.

Here is a basic restore procedure using fsarchiver for the same hard drive but a change went bad:

• Boot systemrescuecd - if you installed the iso from omv-extras, it will be in your grub menu.
• Mount your data drive - example: mount /dev/sde1 /mnt/backup
• Figure out where your backup file is. fsarchiver uses the .fsa extension - example: /mnt/backup/omvbackup/backup-omv-07-May-2018_10-36-31.fsa
• Figure out what your OS drive root partiton is. Don't get this wrong! - example: /dev/sda1
