Why I chose an N100 over a Raspberry PI5

In your opinion, which is better to buy Asrock N100DC or Asus Prime N100i-d d4?

I see that there is also an Asus Prime n100i-d d4-csm, but I don't know the difference between those Asus mbo

My Asrock N100DC-ITX doens't make weird noises.

I'm going to buy an Asrock mbo, so please recommend a quality 19V power supply.

I see that the mbo has connections for only two fans.

I am wondering if I can install four fans?
I can solve this with PWM PST fans, but I don't know if I can do it because of the mbo itself and the 19V 4.74A power supply?

Here's what Asrock customer support says:

...the chassis fan headers on N100DC-ITX provide 12V/2A.
Therefore, connecting two chassis fans (12V/0.2~0.5A) to each fan header should be no problem.

Someone mentioned earlier that Asrock has boosted this mbo with N100 cpu a bit.

How do I adjust the settings so that they are not boosted to reduce heating?

It's in the BIOS. Check the Thread in the Unraid forum.

The Leicke power supply is working fine for me. I mean a power supply can die. If you are worrying that it dies then just buy a second power supply as reserve. If you want a system which has extremely low downtime then you should have bought a industrial board and a redundant PSU. And even that can break. This here is cheap consumer hardware.

After what i read the ASRock has 20-30 percent better CPU performance in multicore because it runs 10W PL1 instead of 6W PL1 like the Asus PRIME.

Although i also read that it is possible to change that using powercap utilities. Anyone tried that?

I set my PL1 to 12W and my Core Temp does not go any higher than 70 degrees under load.

Did not do any performance comparison though.

I Have also NAS server based on Asus N100I-D. My setup below.

Motherboard: Asus N100I-D

Case: Fractal node 304 - 6x HDD 3,5 bays plus 2X 2,5 HDD

Power: Bequite 400w

NVME: Samsung 512GB 990

RAM: 32GB Crucial

PCI to 8x sata with ASM1064+JBM575

SW: Proxmox, OMV, CasaOS, Windows 11 VM and some 10 conteiners - Plex with HW transcoding

This is very quite setup, the case has 3 very quite fans and very good airflow...

In bios you can set performace but there is no need the N100 is powerful enough to run all above.

Asrock motherboard is BAD choice for NAS. There is no option how to power 6x HDD.
