Problem after upgrade

  • Hi guys,

So, it feels like the upgrade broke my system.

I'm connecting to my machine (an Odroid-HC4) via SSH and tried to upgrade my OMV6 to OMV7 using the "omv-upgrade-release" command and at some point got disconnected.

Now I can't connect to the web interface using admin (502 bad gateway), I can't login to my session using my user, only root.

I tried using omv-firstaid to setup a new password but it doesn't work.

Same for using passwd for my session. It says it's been changed but when I try to login by disconnecting from root and logging again, it doesn't work.

I don't know what to do.

Can you guys please help ?

    Regards,

    Approved the thread.
  • tried to upgrade my OMV6 to OMV7 using the "omv-upgrade-release"

    And you did this because...???

OMV7 is still in a BETA stage.

Did you made a backup of the OS drive PRIOR to upgrade?

This is the first step to do before upgrading any OS to a major version.

If the above answer is YES, than just restore back the system as it was and wait till OMV7 is finally released.

If the answer is no, then there isn't much to do other than start OMV6 fresh and set it as it was.

  • Well, it was a stupid move.

My problematic was that my system kept rebooting randomly.

I thought that upgrading my OMV would solve the problem.

    Turns out it didn't

I had to reinstall my whole system. Not proud of it

As a general rule, upgrading a broken system generally means you're going to have a broken upgrade.

Not sure what your problem was, but to me it would have been pretty obvious an upgrade wasn't going to fix that issue
