Hello everyone, I currently have a two independent RAID 1 pairs with two disks each. Last week I get notified that both sets of disks are in the "clean, degraded" state.

procedure to replace drive in Raid1
Hi All, I have a OMV install setup with 2 disks in a Raid1. Working great and love OMV. I have spent quite a bit of time testing a failed drive scenario to know avail. What is the proper procedure for doing so. I'm a QNAP guy that is used to hot swapping a drive. Can someone point me in the right direction. Thanks

My thoughts about... RAID
Nearly every day there are questions about RAID in this forum. Sometimes I feel, that "having a RAID" is important to nearly every new user.
The first common misconception is, that RAID is giving you security. The second is, that RAID is a backup. Both is not true. The only important letter in the abbreviation 'RAID' is the first one - and it stands for "redundant". Redundancy is defined by Wikipedia as "the duplication of critical components or functions of a system with the intention of… | Thread
Delete Raid on Web GUI?
Hello guys. I am writing to ask you something about the raid change . Currently I have a raid 1 with two disks of one terabyte . I would like to move to a raid 5 by adding a disc to one terabyte passing well to a total capacity of 2 terabytes. I already have the backup of all data .
The problem is that I can not find how to clear the raid 1 , as the Delete command on the web gui raid section is not activated . How should I proceed to activate the command delete and finally proceed with the… |

How to recover a "clean, degraded" RAID after cables problems of one of the 4 disks in RAID 10?
Hi everyone,
after i had some problems with the cables to one of the 4 drives in Raid 10 (unable to open ATA device), i fixed the cable connections and the drive restarted and is visible again (/dev/sde). From the OMV interface the disk is now visible again in Storage -> Disks, and also in S.M.A.R.T., but in Software RAID it is not listed among the devices and the status is "clean, degraded". Do I have to swipe the disk and then recover or is it better to follow another procedure? Thank you. … |
After some thoughts I came to the decision to stop using RAID.
I found this here: https://kbase.io/delete-a-raid-volume-in-openmediavault/ that points to the previous OMV forum post. That post was made in 2016 and figured it would be good to ask if anything has changed in the last 8ish years? So is that procedure in the kbase still apply to OMV6? I'm simply trying to delete the RAID.
All my data is backed up but it would be nice not to lose the disk when I delete the RAID 1, does anyone know if after following the procedure if I'll lose all the data in the mirror or will I basically have two independent copies?
Also I know one of the issues with deleting the RAID is you can't do it if there are shared folders under the RAID volume, but is there any way to see exactly what folders are shared under the RAID?
Thanks for all the help.
