Trying to restore System Borg backup

  • Hello,

I've spent a couple of hours looking for a similar request, but unfortunately I couldn't find any help (yet); please let me know if this process is documented somewhere.

After I upgraded to OMV 7, my list of available packages was empty in the workbench and command lines were sending multiple errors.

Last night, after doing different commands, I totally nuked my installation, forcing me to reinstall from scratch OMV 7.

Obviously, since then I'm not able to access my files on my data disk, which would be a major heartbreak for my wife and I.

Fortunately, I did a Borg backup 2 weeks ago from the workbench, that looks like this:

As I'm totally clueless and super scared that I've lost it all, can someone direct me to my next steps ?

Thanx a lot in advance, I really appreciate any feedback.

  • Thanks to this excellent guide for fsarchiver auanasgheps, I was able to restore the partition & UEFI tables, but I don't know how to restore the system partition (because I need the same guide for Borg, not fsarchiver).

Does anyone know what are my next steps ?

    Thanx everyone.

Extract the dd.gz to the root partition

  • I have a similar problem - I need to restore the system from a backup. Fortunately from the previous day. However, I have a problem identifying the correct files and I don't know how to restore them. I don't have any files with the extension dd or gz. The only large files are in the Borgbackup/Data directory. They don't have any extension, they're just marked with numbers. How to restore backup?
