How do I set up a network bridge exactly in the WebUI between my NAS' first and second NIC?

  • Hello there,

I thought I'd ask here for help as to how I can configure a network bridge with two NICs in my DIY x86 NAS running OMV7 as this seems to be the right place.

    The setup is simple:

My DIY NAS is connected to my network through its first NIC (labelled enp2s0 by OMV7) and it has the IP 192.168.178.31 set for it by my router (moin moin to everyone who knows this subnet!).

Now I installed a second network card (labelled enp1s0 by OMV7) in the machine which I wanted to connect a Raspberry Pi to which receives the IP .178.32 my router.

But how do I establish a network bridge from the webUI?

When going to Network -> Interfaces -> Create -> Bridge only the second card (enp1s0) is shown in the drop down menu.

My best guess is I have to remove the existing connection (without to apply changes yet), create the bridge, add both network interfaces and set at least IPv4 to static with the address, netmask and gateway of my router.

    Is that correct?

I'm asking this in advance because this seems to be one of these setup scenarios which lead me to having no access at all any more if I mess up.

It'd be great if someone could help me out, this actually would help me understand network bridging in general 🥲

    Kind regards
