Best procedure for unmounting USB-attached NTFS drive?

I'll be taking my USB backup drive with me to the United States next week. It's currently mounted as sbc and has shared folders via SAMBA. What's my procedure for unmounting it cleanly? Thank you!

Thank you, chente. So basically, just reverse the steps used to set up the drive with a shared folder (or folders):

Delete any services associated with the share (in my case, only an rsync task), then delete the share.

At this point the drive can just be unplugged I guess.

macom, sometimes the best solution is the easiest. I'll do as you suggested because the file server will not be needed while we are gone. Thank you!
