Under OMV 7, use of docker nginx proxy manager to access home assistant on a KVM

  • Good morning.

I recently built an OMV 7 server.

On this server I use docker-compose to host my services (nextcloud, emby, caliber, romm, heimdall, Nginx Proxy Manager, ...).

To access my services I use a VPN (WireGuard) installed as an addon on OMV.

I then use Heindall in a docker to redirect me to the different services.

To land on Heindal I use the reverse proxy Nginx proxy manager with an SSL certificate and a duckdns domain name pointing to a local address (192.168.0.xx).

So I created subdomains for each service in order to take advantage of https and have valid certification.

I managed to get everything working except for one small thing:

I also have a KVM that contains my home assistant to take advantage of the supervisor. the KVM uses a connection bridge on my local network and therefore home assistant to its own IP on my local network.

So I tried to create a subdomain on nginx to access home assistant but unfortunately I only got a bad request at the end (error 502).

From my VPN I am also unable to have access to the IP of my Home assistant (err_address_unreachable) but on the other hand I am able to have access to my other computer on the local network.

On the other hand, from a computer on the local network I can access the IP address of home assistant.

Do you have any tips on how to successfully use nginx to access my home assistant?

PS : OMV and home assistant are in static ip

    Approved the thread.
  • Would you mind please sharing your Nginx setup please & how you are getting nginx to see the other containers? I'm struggling to replicate it at the moment.
