apt - updating and upgrating faults

  • Short time ago, I installed OpenMediaVault which is running Version: 7.1.0-2 (Sandworm) at the moment.

    Kernel is: Linux sv5000 6.1.0-21-amd64 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Debian 6.1.90-1 (2024-05-03) x86_64 GNU/Linux

When I check for updates on OpenMediaVault GUI, nothing is shown.

Directly using apt on the CLI displays the following messages when running apt-get update and apt-get upgrade:

apt.get update presents many faults, not beeing able to resolve URLs and ignoring files.

    Code
    root@sv5000:~# apt-get upgrade
    Paketlisten werden gelesen… Fertig
    Abhängigkeitsbaum wird aufgebaut… Fertig
    Statusinformationen werden eingelesen… Fertig
    Paketaktualisierung (Upgrade) wird berechnet… Fertig
0 aktualisiert, 0 neu installiert, 0 zu entfernen und 0 nicht aktualisiert.
    root@sv5000:~#

The file /var/cache/openmediavault/archives/Packages is completely empty.

In /etc/apt/sources.list are the following files

    Code
    omvextras.list:
    deb [signed-by=/usr/share/keyrings/omvextras.gpg arch=amd64] https://openmediavault-plugin-developers.github.io/packages/debian sandworm main
    Code
    openmediavault.list:

    # deb [signed-by=/usr/share/keyrings/openmediavault-archive-keyring.gpg] http://downloads.sourceforge.net/project/openmediavault/packages/ sandworm main
    Code
    openmediavault-os-security.list:

    deb [signed-by=/usr/share/keyrings/debian-archive-bookworm-security-automatic.gpg] http://security.debian.org/debian-security bookworm-security main contrib non-free non-free-firmware

    deb-src [signed-by=/usr/share/keyrings/debian-archive-bookworm-security-automatic.gpg] http://security.debian.org/debian-security bookworm-security main contrib non-free non-free-firmware
    Code
    openmediavault-kernel-backports.list:
    deb [signed-by=/usr/share/keyrings/debian-archive-bookworm-automatic.gpg] http://httpredir.debian.org/debian bookworm-backports main contrib non-free non-free-firmware
    Code
    openmediavault-local.list:
    deb [trusted=yes] file:/var/cache/openmediavault/archives /

I must admit I'm a bit lost what has happened and why.

I would like to get rid of the errors, get a stable system again and even upgrade to a higher OMV version later on.

  • I checked the DNS setting with resolvectl status and was shown, that no DNS server was assigned.

By using omv-firstaid I entered the IP and the DNS server was applied.

    I then could run apt-get update && apt-get upgrade -y without problems.
    Debian and OpenMediaVault was updated.

I then also run omv-update and now the system is up and stable again.
