openmediavault-calibre installation failed

Hi,

Just tried to install the openmediavault calibre 0.5.4 plugin, but it hung on "updating locales". Restarting the omv web interface shows the plugin under services, but displays and error -

Error
#4000:
exception 'OMVException' with message 'Failed to execute command
'/opt/calibre/calibredb list --library-path "/home/calibre" -f
title,authors --separator " " 2>&1': sh: /opt/calibre/calibredb:
not found' in /usr/share/openmediavault/engined/rpc/calibre.inc:158

I'd like to uninstall it but OMV plugins page doesnt think its there, and apt-get remove calibre also fails with an error -

Updating locale files ...
Errors were encountered while processing:
openmediavault-calibre
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

I'd just like to remove it completely.
Can anyone help?

UPDATE - I ran apt-clean from onv-extras.org tab and then ran
apt-get remove --purge openmediavault-calibre
followed by
apt-get remove --purge calibre

Seems to have removed it. Wary of trying again, though.

Should I have waited longer for "Updating locale files..." to finish? I gave up after 10 minutes and rebooted.

What type of system? The error is because the database location is not set.

The error is because calibre changed to xz compression instead of bz2. This means the installer isn't working right.

Do the following (as root) to fix it:

chmod +x install_calibre.sh
./install_calibre.sh

The gui installation still hangs, and needs to be aborted, but running your commands via ssh afterwords allows me to start the service.
Itrs still listed as uninstalled in the plugins tab, but appears to work OK.

It is fixed in the plugin for OMV 1.0.

Hey ryecoaaron,

run in the same problem too --> still on OMV 0.56 and no need to update so far.
can you provide an command to get calibre installed in the gui after installing with your script?

Did you try install script above? It should work on 0.5 as well.

yes i did, install was fine!
can start the server via command line but the OMV-GUI is not customized!
No entry for calibre...

Does installing the plugin not work? I haven't tried 0.5 in a long time.

no, plugin failed as mentioned above
the calibre download is no longer bzip2, so error 2 returned
with your script the install is fine, only the OMV-GUI is not customized

Just put 0.5.5 in the repo. Hope that fixes it.
