Cannot install updates

  • Hi everyone,

It's since a week that I cannot install updates on my OMV system at home.

I recently upgraded from 6 to 7, and I also run the fix6to7upgrade script (from here), due to some issues with omv-extras, which I solved with that script. I don't know if the problem I have now with the updates is also connected to the upgrade or not.

Basically, I have the notification about 6 updates, but when I click on it to go to the updates panel and I launch the updates, nothing happens.

I've attached a GIF, but don't know if it is clear...

I've also tried with apt update but it doesn't show anything to upgrade.

  • I am having the same issues. Since the upgrade to OMV-7 I have never had a update install using the OMV update command. Says there is none available.

Did you run the fix6to7upgrade script?

Do I just copy and past that into ssh?

No. I was hoping that would be a trigger to search the forum for the script. Just run:

    sudo wget -O - https://github.com/OpenMediaVault-Plugin-Developers/installScript/raw/master/fix6to7upgrade | sudo bash

    omv 8.1.1-1 synchrony | 6.17 proxmox kernel

  • Updates wont install. Getting a 500 server error (screenshot below). Tried rebooting and installing twice. Same error.

    Any suggestions?

Maybe this explains where it's failing.

Now, if running that command will solve or do worst, that's a different story.

    ryecoaaron can help better

  • Tried running it and saw 72 update then stopped in ssh. Here was error. Had netdata once but removed it. Wasn't even part of OMV.

Thanks so much for your help.

    E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (2)

  • Finally got this to work. 2 things.

    1. I was getting a error about netdata in a file failing the updates. I tool netdata out. It was installed outside of omv and portainer and left some traces in a file in a dpkg file. Went to /var/lib/dpkg/statoverride and edit the file removing 5-6 instances of netdata in it.

    2. Ran sudo omv-backports NO

After update made sure backports via omv were disable to be sure.

    Boom, everything worked!

    Hope this helps.
