Recommended Power Management

Hello,

I recently reinstalled OMV from 4 to 7. Since then, I have been working on optimizing my NAS.

Due to the high electricity costs in Germany, I want to avoid having the NAS running 24/7. In addition, I only really need it when I want to watch a movie via Infuse/Plex of my Plex Media Server or upload new movies/series on the data drives.

Is there a recommended and simple solution to keep the NAS on standby for access without always having to switch it on or off manually by hand?

I put my NAS in standby. When I want to watch a movie I wake it up with Wake-On-Lan - it´s online in seconds.

Do you have an extra Plugin for this or how is your WOL working? I activated it in my BIOS, but I realized, that there is an docker available for it. Are you using it?

I am using the plugin "openmediavault-autoshutdown" to force the system to suspend.

And welweb for the WOL command. It´s integrated in some webpages on my local net and as an app on my FireTV.

So, when I want to watch a movie I run the wolweb app on FireTV, wake up my NAS and seconds later Jellyfin is up and I can start watching.
