Changing OMV Harddrive

I would clone that hard drive and then expand the operating system partition. For example with clonezilla.

In any case, I suggest you install OMV on a pendrive or microSD and use the SSD for docker. Having both on the same unit is not a good idea. Also, in your case you would eliminate the problem of booting from the SSD.

If you want to transfer the configuration from an SSD to a pendrive/microsd I would use omv-regen, you will finish sooner.

Regarding choosing between microsd or pendrive, I couldn't answer you.

As for speed, you should not worry, there will only be a minimal delay in the response of the OMV GUI, but it will be imperceptible to you. The system will use the RAM so there are no performance problems. Remember to install the openmediavault-flashmemory plugin.

As for durability, google it, I have no idea.

I've never actually used microSD cards but almost everyone who installs OMV on Raspberry uses them and I don't read many problems about this.

As for using a pendrive, I have always used them and have not had any problems. They are used in many systems and in most professional-level servers. Just make sure you choose a decent pendrive.
