Adding 2nd Parity Drive to Snapraid Problem

  • I have increased my pools size and have added a 2nd 6TB Parity Drive, which is properly mounted. When attempting to perform a sync I received an error message that says "the drive has zero blocks instead of 19366537". Also after making sure the drive is mounted it says " if adding a new parity level, you can sync using the command snapraid --force-full sync

I have SSH into OMV and attempted this command and receive an error creating the lock file '/srv/dev-disk-by-uuid-29d3e422-3249-467d-b861-7b29fa3f2f6f/sna praid.content.lock'. Permission denied.

I am stumped what to do.

    Not a Linux expert either.

  • Are you running the snapraid command as root?

Does the lock file already exist before running the command? If so remove it.

  • Thanks for your reply.

I created a separate user for ssh on the WebGUI and I am running the command through that user.

I have no idea how to look for a existing lock file?

  • Snapraid commands must be run by root or via sudo.

The error message you posted gave you the name and location of the lock file.

  • Being a novice user, I do not know how to access the lock file in order to delete it. Any help on the procedure would be greatly appreciated.

  • Code
    sudo rm -f /srv/dev-disk-by-uuid-29d3e422-3249-467d-b861-7b29fa3f2f6f/snapraid.content.lock
