I brake my omv interface by trying upgrade from omv6 to omv7

  • Hello,

I tried the upgrade from my omv6 to omv7 from the web inteface,

But I dint well read the prerequisites and I think that didn't have enough space on my disk.

So the update process has aborted. I tried some manipulations to force update (but I don't record what I did), and now, my web interface is on an error "403 Forbidden".

I still have access with putty and the command line and my Jellyfin and Qbittorent containers are still operationals. :)

Have someone an idea to have back the acces to my gui interface?

If not possible to recuperate the gui, I can reinstall the full system, but, if I do that, will I keep my 4x 4To Hdd's mounted in raid with OMV? and my containers? and my shares? ?(

Here ares my logs with the update/upgrade command :

Whatever you did, OMV was removed and you have a mess. What is the output of: sudo apt-get install openmediavault

I tried the upgrade from my omv6 to omv7 from the web inteface,

How did you do this? You can't upgrade from 6 to 7 from the web interface.

  • hello,

I tried all upgrades with the web interface, then, I followed a guide a found on this forum.

I had issues and tried to resolve it by myself searching various on threads of the forums before breaking all... ;(
I should have asked "how to" before... :S but, I'm a kind of guy who wanna try to resolve myself and ask help on last resort.

  • the output of the command is :

    Code
    root@OMV:~# sudo apt-get install openmediavault
Lecture des listes de paquets... Fait
Construction de l'arbre des dépendances... Fait
    Lecture des informations d'état... Fait
E: Le paquet openmediavault-omvextrasorg doit être réinstallé, mais il est impossible de trouver son archive.

It seems the repositories are missing, but my linux knowledge is limited, and I don't know how to add this.

  • Hello,

one more time , thanks for trying to help me.

here is the output of the command

    Code
    root@OMV:~# sudo dpkg -r openmediavault-omvextrasorg

    openmediavault-omvextrasorg

I seems the packet is in "incoherent state", unable to remove and unable to install?!?

The problem is that the openmediavault package is not installed which openmediavault-omvextrasorg depends on. So, reinstalling will complain about that.

    Try this:

    wget http://packages.openmediavault.org/public/pool/main/o/openmediavault/openmediavault_6.9.16-1_all.deb

    wget https://github.com/OpenMediaVault-Plugin-Developers/packages/raw/master/openmediavault-omvextrasorg_latest_all6.deb

    sudo dpkg -i openmediavault_6.9.16-1_all.deb

    sudo dpkg -i openmediavault-omvextrasorg_latest_all6.deb

    omv 7.4.10-1 sandworm | 64 bit | 6.8 proxmox kernel

    plugins :: omvextrasorg 7.0 | kvm 7.0.14 | compose 7.2.14 | k8s 7.3.1-1 | cputemp 7.0.2 | mergerfs 7.0.5 | scripts 7.0.9

  • I lauched the command, and I have dependency errors:

So, I tried a command I found on another forum

    sudo apt-get -f install

which seems have resolved the dependency error.

    I re-tried your first command :

    sudo dpkg -i openmediavault_6.9.16-1_all.deb

    and the second :

    sudo dpkg -i openmediavault-omvextrasorg_latest_all6.deb

and it seems it's well reinstalled

AndI have recuperated my web interface... :) :) :)

So I can tell you a HUGE THANK YOU :!: ,    ryecoaaron :!:
Now, I will try to extend the master partition on the disk, to have enough space to properly make the update and once done, follow the guide of update from 6->7.

ryecoaaron , Thanks for the time you gave to me to find a solution..! If you pass a day in Belgium near Namur, please say it, we will drink a beer together :P

    Edit : It seems I enjoyed myself too quickly... : :D ;( :S

after connection into the web gui, I launched the updates on the default update interface, I rebooted the machine with the ssh console and now, I can't login in the web interface. I will post a new thread if the error persist...

, I rebooted the machine with the ssh console and now, I can't login in the web interface

I would be curious to know what packages updated. Does the last command help?

    sudo tail -n100 /var/log/apt/history.log

    dpkg -l | grep -v ^ii

sudo omv-salt deploy run nginx phpfpm

  • When I try to login, I have a 502 - Bad Gateway error

I have tried by myself several things like

    sudo apt-get update

    sudo apt-get upgrade

    but the error still persist.
the result of the command you gave is : omv tail command result.txt

    the second is :

  • With your last command, (sudo omv-salt deploy run nginx phpfpm ) I could connect back in the web interface.

Once connected the system asked me to validate "waiting changes", what I did...

It seems I'm now in omv 7?!?
