Clone usb with OMV OS on windows 11

  • I am very new to OMV and linux , I hope this post will help others who are also new to OMV. When installing OMV 7, I wanted to make a system backup at the point where I've finally managed to merge my two 6GB drives with mergefs and snapride them with another 6GB drive used as parity drive. The usage of OMV plugin for system backup is too alien for me and there is no guide for beginners how to use it without linux spells knowledge; recommended in the beginners guide program USBimager is not showing in Windows 11 usb thumbdrive with OMV OS image. After searching internet and trying quite a few programs, I've finally found the program which shows usb thumbdrive with OMV OS in Windows 11 - ImageUSB - https://www.osforensics.com/tools/write-usb-images.html

First the program red the OMV OS and saved it to .bin file:

    - then I've took out usb thumbdrive with OMV OS, inserted another USB thumbdrive previously formatted with SDFormatter and checked with h2testw1.4.

And asked the program to write saved OS image to this thumbdrive:

The process took an hour or so. But now my OMV is booted from cloned USB thumbdrive and I can continue to play with it.
