Two possibly related issues

    Hi I'm running 6.9.16-1 (Shaitan) on a Raspberry Pi 3


    We've been away from the house for several months and OMV was shut down for the duration. I booted it up today and have run into two issues, possibly related.


    Issue #1: I normally bring with me a USB HDD that I connect to the system, but I didn't bring it this time. OMV Storage >File Systems reports it as Missing. No surprise there, it is missing. But I can't find a way to remove it. It shows as Referenced but I cannot find what is referencing it. It's not rsync, I don't know what the deal is here.


    Issue #2: Possibly related to Issue #1? I have lost write permissions to the shared folders from my macbook air over the network. The only thing changed since I last accessed it months ago was that it was properly shut down, and now has been restarted. Maybe OMV needs the missing external USB removed before I can write to the usual disk.

    Yep - you do get issues with missing disks and referenced services when you have a disk removed from the system without removing it cleanly. Best way is to restart the server with the missing disk and then take steps to remove it. If you install the reset permissions plugin you will see what services are referencing the missing disk but it wont help you fix it.


    I'm not sure issue#2 is related but i suppose having the disk missing might cause issues with file sharing services generally (if the missing disk has shared folders for file sharing). You need to check if smb (or nfs etc) service is running and look at the logs. You can add a widget on the dashboard to get a summary of services and status.


    Some of the more advanced folks on the forum might be able to help clean up the system and omv database without the disk installed but this is above my paygrade. Sorry.

    OMV 7 (latest) on N100 Minipc (16GB) and RPI5 (8GB). OS on SD card. System ext4 on SSD. Data BTRFS on HDDs
