Issues with Windows 11 on KVM Plugin

  • If I'm not mistaken, you are referring to this:

The guide mentions that you must press that button to download the virtio ISO. That button is a direct download of that ISO. And that ISO includes everything you need if I'm not mistaken, or am I missing something else?

The guide mentions downloading the ISO and using it to install the virtio driver during OS installation, but it doesn't mention running the Install Wizard from the ISO after OS install to get the rest of the drivers installed, nor does it mention the qemu guest agent. Not sure if those steps are necessary, but those are the steps that I think the above poster was referring to.

  • Yep. These are my notes from when I installed windows 11 VM a couple of months ago. I was not aware of the guide at the time.

Once you get the windows VM installed - run the virtio full installation. That's what I did to make sure virtio drivers are used where possible.

As a final step install the separate installer for the windows qemu guest agent.

OMV 7 (latest) on N100 Minipc (16GB) and RPI5 (8GB). OS on SD card. System ext4 on SSD. Data BTRFS on HDDs

Do you happen to know if that supports sound?

    Nope

I guess the guide assume you would run the program on the iso. The qemu guest agent isn't absolutely required but highly recommended.
