Delete all shared folders pointing at that drive. For that you have to remove these shared folders from any service they have been added.
So basically all the steps you did when setting up, just in reverse order.
Then you should be able to delete the filesystem on the drive.
If you are on OMV7 you can also try the mount editor plugin. It has the function "delete orphaned entry".

that worked, thanks for that. i have now moved the install to a ssd disk. now it shows this orphaned entry - this case the root fs. moved from a 64GB SD Card to a 2 TB SSD
