CPU spikes with Kernel 6.12.9+bpo-amd64

  • With the latest update I also got kernel 6.12.9+bpo-amd64.

Exactly every 15 minutes now, the cpu peaks for a short ammount of time, resulting in more power consumption.

Switching back to kernel 6.1.0-31-amd64 (which I did at the red line in the diagramm) fixed the problem.

  • small followup:

the latest update brought kernl 6.12.12+bpo-amd64

I had this kernel running from 9:50 to 13:00. You can see in that time the cpu is constantly jumping around.

Compared to the other times where it idles at around 700mhz and only has small spikes when the server does something.

So kernel 6.1.0-31-amd65 seems fine. Any kernel after that does strange things on my server.

  • Hi folks

I recognized CPU warnings in bootlog, checked with journalctl. Never had this with the stable 6.1.x stable kernel...

But my hardware is very old...

Debian is the right place to address this...

  • Hi folks

I would like to see a bootlog, if there is something interesting in the output. Normally I guess there should be no problems like this.

The kernel state is stable and longterm support, you can see at kernel.org. May be it's a backporting problem. But i'm not an expert...
