what update?

  • i mean, i have a long list of update on my OMV.

By default, i know that a working machine should not be upgraded, it doesnt work as before.

But in this case, i am a totally beginner in debian and OMV: what am i supposed to install without problems?

Are they ALL about my install or something is an update of something i havent?

    Thanks in advance

This is not true. The first thing I do is install all updates. Then updates should be installed at least monthly.

what am i supposed to install without problems?

Click the install button in the Updates tab. It will install all updates.

so everything is in the list , is good to update?

It should be. That is the reasoning behind using a super stable Linux distro like Debian for the base of OMV. Everything in the list should be a bug fix or security fix.

If your system is that critical, you should setup a test system to test updates before applying them to the primary system.

Not for my case it broke my boot partition, my grub is stuck in welcome to grub! But if I use a back-up before those update I am able to boot :/ :?:

    and the result is....

It is hard to say went wrong without the output from the updates.

There are bugs in all software. I have fixed hundreds more windows systems than linux. Not sure what to tell you. As with the OP, I don't know what you system is doing during the update. If grub is failing, don't reboot.

If you do not make verified to be restorable backups of your OS disk you will eventually find yourself where you are now.

A backup strategy is worthless unless you have a verified to work by testing restore strategy.

i did reinstall, and i think i ll not be updating in the next future...

You still never posted the output to know what went wrong. If you want to prevent the issue I think you had, you put the grub packages on hold with the apttool plugin.
