Is it possible to create/compile individual configured kernel?

  • ryecoaaron

    Hi Aaron

    It's more than 30 years ago, that i build the kernel by myself... That was the beginning of Linux in 1990. Is it possible to blow up the OMV installation, that i can configure and compile my own kernel on the Debian system... Or is it to complex?

    Anyone who tried it?

    Best regards

    It won't blow up the OMV install but it might break some plugins that depend on kernel modules like zfs or wireguard.

    Why do you want to compile a kernel?

    omv 7.7.3-1 sandworm | 64 bit | 6.11 proxmox kernel

    plugins :: omvextrasorg 7.0.2 | kvm 7.1.2 | compose 7.4.4 | cputemp 7.0.2 | mergerfs 7.0.5 | scripts 7.1

    omv-extras.org plugins source code and issue tracker - github - changelogs

  • Hi

    It's just an idea to build an kernel exactly for my hardware. Because the 6.12.12bpo kernel is producing cpu errors in bootlog...

    I'm reading here in another post, that

    there is a nonfree bpo package to install.

    How can i do this (Included in PVE kernel).

    At this time i don't know what is necessary to do, for building a individual kernel on OMV... To long ago and to many things changed...
