I'm new to OMV, want to use it for our office server. At home I have a server for testing, so I installed OMV there, latest stable version. This server has one SSD for OMV and two internal HDDs for data. I installed Samba, Docker with several services, and it all worked in the beginning.
After two days the two HDD filesystems disappeared. It was the first night that I let Clamav scan the disk, so I thought it had to do with that but that's not the problem. I've tried many things to fix it and get the filesystems back, including several restarts. I removed the disks, thinking they might be corrupt or broken and attached them to another computer. They were fine. After reconnecting them to the server the filesystems appeared again and worked for several days, then disappeared again. I've tried another computer with two internal HDDs, one for OMV and one for data. The same thing happened. I've reinstalled, tried again - same thing.
Maybe I'm doing something wrong? I can't believe that this is a common occurance because it makes OMV completely useless. If I cannot fix this problem I have to resort to Debian, which works, but OMV is so much easier to handle.
It could be a hardware problem, but I can't believe that two servers have the same problem at the same time. Both are older Dell computers, but not the same model, not the same year.
Can you explain what is happening? Do you have suggestions how to fix this?
