Help config FTPS

  • I created a tls certificate, applied it in the ssl/tls settings, but when connecting it returns the error "Command: MLSD

Error: Connection aborted: ECONNABORTED - Connection aborted"

or returns nothing, but stops at "Status: The server sent a passive response with an undetectable address. Using the existing server address."

FTP is running on port 21, on the router from the wan zone there is forwarding from the open port of the free one to the IP OMV port 21

  • It's sooooooo much easier to use SFTP instead.

A backup strategy is worthless unless you have a verified to work by testing restore strategy.

  • I just set up SFTP, it seems like it really is easier, but I wonder why there is something wrong with FTPS

FTP and its related FTPS are much more complex from a networking standpoint. They require two ports and are not very NAT friendly. If both the server and client are behind NATs it can be a lot more difficult to get working.

SFTP is a child service to SSH which only needs a single port.
